Session A-2

Title:                             Methods for up- and downscaling in integrated assessments

Session organisers   Frank Ewert (Wageningen Univ., the Netherlands, Univ. of Bonn, Germany), Martin Volk (Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, Leipzig, Germany)

Keynote speaker:        John Antle (Montana State University, USA)

Scope of the session: Agricultural systems comprise natural and socio-economic processes and relationships across scales. Several methods for bridging these scales have been developed, but associated advantages and limitations are often not well understood and systematic comparisons of those across alternatives are lacking. The session aims to present and discuss up- and down-scaling methods commonly used in impact assessment for (mainly) agricultural systems. Presentations are invited that refer to conceptual descriptions, applications or the comparison of up- and down-scaling approaches.
