Session B-1

Title:                            Large scale integrated policy assessment: tools and applications

Session organisers:   Thomas Heckelei (Univ. of Bonn, Germany)

Keynote speaker:        Thomas Hertel (Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA)

Scope of the session: Experience of using modelling tools supporting policy assessment of impacts on agriculture and sustainable development. This session aims to show recent advances in the modelling of the impact of policies on the economics and sustainability of the agricultural sector. Specific attention shall be given to joint assessment of economic and environmental impacts based on economic systems with multi-sector or complete coverage of national or regional economic accounts. This comprises large scale agricultural models with differentiated sub-sectors, CGE-modelling approaches, and links of such modelling systems with other models specifically targeting regional, national or global interactions between economic and environmental policy objectives.
